Last week, I shared my words for the year, “Open and Obedient.” I’ve really been focusing on following Jesus with my choices, taking risks when God provides an opportunity, and knowing when to step back from an opportunity. Likewise, I’ve had many moments of disappointment and waiting to assist in the sanctification process this year. I have needed edifying music to refocus my heart again and again.
These are the songs that the Lord placed on my heart (and sometimes on the radio) until one day, I made a playlist so that I could tune into these encouraging lyrics and words of truth whenever my heart needed to refocus. Alexa has become familiar with the phrase, “Alexa, play my playlist, ‘Open and Obedient 2023,’ please.” I have needed reminders of truth and unloading the dishwasher and cooking dinner have been prime times for Alexa to play my list of songs day after day.
These words have encouraged me in moments of weakness more times than I can count and I certainly hope they will encourage you as you seek Jesus in your own life. You can access the Spotify playlist below.

The Holy Spirit is faithful to speak truth to my heart when my mood swings to discontentment and impatience. When you feel this way, I want to encourage you to seek the Lord through scripture and Biblically truthful song lyrics.
I’m not usually a King James kind of girl as my first preference of Bible translations, but I love the way the KJV puts this specific scripture.
From the end of the earth, will I cry unto thee. When my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.”
Psalm 61:2
Our God is with us. May we seek His presence and His truth.
From my heart to yours,
~Courtney
