My husband, a worship pastor, has introduced our church to the most beautiful song! I cannot think of a better musical combination of melody and lyrics to ring in a New Year. Perhaps, it’s worth noting that I’m extremely biased about my church’s music.

I often count it a rather fun blessing of my life that no matter where I attend church as an adult, I will have the privilege of being a part of his music ministry. I suppose I’ll always enjoy my church’s music wherever the Lord leads. This matters to a musical girl like myself.
With this aside, I have to tell you that the song moved me more than the usual closing hymn. I always greet guests (and regulars, of course) at the dismissal of this particular service at a table our church calls, “The Info Hub.” So, I routinely walk out the back door of the worship center to the Info Hub toward the end of the closing hymn. Yesterday, I walked out the back and then snuck back in the door closest to the Info Hub to finish singing this song. The lyrics are on point. It is just so worshipful!
I’ve decided that a song that meant that much to me is worth sharing with you, dear readers.
Please allow yourself a moment to think upon these new lyrics by Kings Kaleidoscope, as performed by Sovereign Grace music at the Together For the Gospel conference, to the tune of Auld Lange Syne. I personally enjoy hearing my husband sing these words along with my church family, but this Youtube video is nice, as well.

What a perfect song to end a year, full of highs and lows no doubt, with glad surrender to Jesus Christ. All glory be to the One who has carried us through it all and remains the mighty author of our faith and hope.
Here are the lyrics:
Should nothing of our efforts stand
No legacy survive
Unless the Lord does raise the house
In vain its builders strive.
To you who boast tomorrow’s gain
Tell me, what is your life?
A mist that vanishes at dawn
All glory be to Christ!
All glory be to Christ our king!
All glory be to Christ!
His rule and reign we’ll ever sing,
All glory be to Christ!
His will be done
His kingdom come
On earth as is above
Who is Himself our daily bread
Praise Him the Lord of love
Let living water satisfy
The thirsty without price
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet
All glory be to Christ!
All glory be to Christ our king!
All glory be to Christ!
His rule and reign we’ll ever sing,
All glory be to Christ!
When on the day the great I Am
The faithful and the true
The Lamb who was for sinners slain
Is making all things new.
Behold our God shall live with us
And be our steadfast light
And we shall ere his people be
All glory be to Christ!
All glory be to Christ our king!
All glory be to Christ!
His rule and reign will ever sing,
All glory be to Christ!
May your New Year be full of His glory. The Lamb who was for sinners slain is making all things new. All glory be to Christ!
From my heart to yours,
~Courtney
