Define missionary. Is it a person who flies in an airplane to a remote village while wearing Chaco sandals? Not exactly. Let’s erase that out image out of our minds forever.
{Disclaimer: I love international missions more than I love sweet tea and Christmas combined. This is a great deal of love, I tell you. I also like Chaco sandals. I especially appreciate the rare women who wear Chacos aaaaand paint their toenails. We can have it both ways, ladies. Paint your nails. Let us move forward.}
A missionary? If you love Jesus, you’re going to need to put your missionary hat on and never take it off. Sweet friends, we are called to this. We are called to missions everywhere.
Wherever you go? Mission field. Wherever you are? Mission field. Fly on a plane? Mission field. Walk to the mailbox? Mission field. Wherever you work? Mission field. Wherever you live? Mission field. Do we have any questions thus far?
Precious friends, followers of Christ are meant to be missional in every moment of every day. We are to conduct ourselves in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ. The Gospel? It should shine through us! In our everyday, normal stuff, we are missionaries living out the love of Jesus.
God is sovereign. You are not where you are by mistake. Look around. These people? Your people? They need Jesus. We all do. People need Jesus.
In my series 31 Days of Missional Living, we take a close look at the love of Jesus. We want to know His love so that we can live it out around us. We desire to love the way He loves and to speak the way He speaks. Jesus is our perfect example of how to live on this side of Heaven.
The series will focus on practical ways we can live out the love of Jesus everywhere we go. Listen sweet readers, I am not an expert on Missional Living. I’ve yet to meet the “Missional Living Guru,” in fact. I don’t think that’s a thing. Can we perfect living like Jesus? No. Can we strive toward the goal? You betcha. While I am not an expert, I am passionate about living missionally. Jesus is the only way to turn this world around. This world needs Him.
May we show His love! I want to make much of His love and I desire for my life to point to His glory. I’ll go to my grave striving to make Him known. It is our life’s purpose, friends.
Let’s talk about that! Let us make His name known wherever we are! Life is too short to waste it in survival mode, going through the motions, and doing just enough to get by. This life is not for our glory, friends.
This life is about Him.
The missional living series focuses on ways that others are pointing to Jesus. We’ll look at the home, the workplace, the neighborhood, the community, the church, the grocery store, the highway, and the nations to name a few. I encourage you to read more posts from the missional living series to uncover ideas to love others exactly where you are in this season of your life. Let’s do this together. We were made for such a time as this!
May we point to Jesus. May His love shine brightly in the darkness! Let us tell the world the message. The Gospel is the good news of Jesus to all those who believe. Let us tell them the story of Jesus.
From my heart to yours, ~Courtney
Amen, sister!
Thank you for stopping by, Jennifer! You’re welcome anytime!
I love this. I admit that I am often quiet about my faith. I have always slightly cowered behind letting my actions show my faith without actually stating them. I’m feeling like maybe I should be more brave after reading your post. Love it!
Jenny, I am so glad to hear that! I think it is noble to let our lives shine the love of Jesus, yet I also believe there is a place for our words to reflect His love. I love the way we encourage one another and connect through writing as mothers!
