The fall season is upon us! With the coziness of autumnal traditions, warm sweaters, and crunchy leaves, comes an expectancy for the season still to come! Autumn makes way for the beauty of Thanksgiving which ushers us into the meaning of the Advent season.
What if we could be fully in the moment of this spectacular season while preparing for the wonder of Christmas? How might we prepare now to make much of Jesus as the year comes to a close? Could it be possible? Could this be the most sacred Christmas yet?
Sweet readers, I have decided to take part in another year of the October Write 31 Days series, hosted by writer, Crystal Stine, the author of Holy Hustle.
Three years ago, I chose to write about missional living for the month of October. The next year, I interviewed a plethora of women I love for 31 Days of Real Conversations with Real Women.
Each October, I have considered writing a series about how we might prepare for an Advent season that would focus the hearts of our families on Jesus in a season less rushed, happier, and holier. I truly believe this is possible for our families and our homes. I fully believe there is always, always room in our hearts for more of Jesus. This year, I’m going to dive deeply into this topic with you. May this be the most sacred Christmas!
Each October post will focus on meaningful Christmas traditions from my real life: my childhood, my years as a teacher, and my first nine years as a mother. I have always had a serious affinity for all things Christmas. This is, perhaps, in part because I was raised in a home where Christmas was synonymous with joy! My own parents were {and still certainly are} fiercely dedicated to cultivating wholesome childhoods and family lives full of joy in Jesus as well as a family culture that makes special days extra special! My husband and I have carried on some of these same traditions and have created a few of our very own.
I’m filled with anticipation as we embark on this fall journey toward Advent together, dear friends.
The days ahead shall be filled with: Christmas playlists, Christmas reading lists, my favorite Christmas resources, Advent traditions, inspiration for the home, ideas for the classroom, and quiet moments for the preparation of your very own heart.
I’m bursting with excitement to share my heart and my very favorite things with you through this series!
May this year be the most sacred Christmas!
From my heart to yours,
~Courtney
